Russia's oldest citizen Tanzilya Bisembeyeva has died at the age of 123 in the village of Alcha in the country's southern Astrakhan region, Russian media reported Wednesday.
TASS news agency reported that Bisembeyeva was recognized as the world's oldest Russian citizen by the Russian Book of World Records in 2016, when she was 120.
She was overtaken by another superager, Nanu Shaova from the North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, who, as it was discovered in 2017 had the age of 127.
But Shaova died in January 2019, and Bisembeyeva regained her title in Russia.
According to "Point A" Astrakhan regional Internet resource, Bisembeyeva had three sons, 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the oldest verified person in the world ever was Jeanne Louise Calment from France, who died at the age of 122 years and 164 days in 1997.
