80% Albanians believe EU accession to benefit country

Four out of five Albanian citizens believe that their country will gain significant benefits if it becomes part of the European Union (EU), an opinion poll carried out by Gallup showed Wednesday.

According to the poll, Albanians seem to be the most optimistic people in the region about the country's integration into the EU, having a high level of trust in their accession to the bloc.

A total of 87 percent of Albanian interviewees said Albania would benefit from EU accession, while only nine percent said it would worsen things.

The citizens of Albania relate the process of EU integration with employment and better living standards, the poll found.
