Coronavirus death toll in Netherlands increases to 43

The death toll from the novel coronavirus in the Netherlands increased by 19 to 43 since the last update on Monday, the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) announced on Tuesday.

The age of the dead ranges from 63 to 94 years old.

The RIVM also reported 292 new positive tests, raising a total of confirmed cases to 1,705.

The province of North Brabant has most infected people, a total of 634. Among them there are 389 people who work in the medical care sector.

On Sunday, the Dutch government decided to close schools, childcare centers, sportsclubs, bars, restaurants, sex clubs and coffeeshops until April 6. A total lockdown of the country is so far not an option for the Dutch government.
