A wildfire ravaged 635 hectares in France's southeastern region and forced the evacuation of many homes, regional authorities said on Monday.

Some 500 firemen were brought to tackle the blaze which broke out at 11:30 local time, and it was still burning out of the control on Monday evening, said the authorities.

About 100 homes were evacuated in the zone on high risks of fire spread due to expected strong wind and dry conditions, added the authorities.

No victims have been reported in the blaze, whose cause remains unknown.
