Newly transmitted coronavirus cases in Germany continue to decrease

New infections with COVID-19 in Germany remained under last week's average and increased by 258 over the past day, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Friday, reported Xinhua.
The number of people currently infected with COVID-19 in Germany declined as well and stood at around 14,050 on Friday as the estimated number of people who had already recovered increased by around 400 within one day to 171,600, according to the RKI.
The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in Germany increased by eight to 8,763 on Friday, according to the RKI.
The fatality rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Germany remained at 4.7 percent.
Earlier this week, Germany significantly expanded its coronavirus testing capacity, regardless of whether individuals showed symptoms.
The tests were paid for by Germany's statutory health insurance companies, according to the Ministry of Health.
