Russian daily COVID-19 cases surpass 10,000 again

Russia reported 10,499 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, surpassing 10,000 again since mid-May as the pandemic resurges, the country's coronavirus response center said Sunday, reported Xinhua.
According to official statistics, Russia's total number of COVID-19 infections has grown to 1,215,001. The country continues to rank the fourth-highest in the world in terms of cumulative cases.
To date, there are 21,358 coronavirus-related deaths and 979,143 recoveries in the country.
Moscow has been witnessing a steep growth in daily infections, tallying 3,327 new cases within the past 24 hours, with the total number now equal to 303,940.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Sunday that the city's hospitals are loaded with COVID-19 patients, and backup mobile hospitals will be used if the situation continues to worsen.
