A huge cache of weapons and bomb-making materials were uncovered during a joint anti-terror operation by the Danish National Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and police over the weekend, according to a joint press conference here on Friday, reported Xinhua.

"We have found the ingredients needed to make a bomb. We have also found weapons such as pump guns and a hunting rifle with binoculars. These are some findings that concern us," said Flemming Drejer, chief operating officer of PET.

Thirteen people have been remanded in custody and charged with planning one or more terrorist attacks or participating in attempted terrorism, following the anti-terror action which took place from Feb. 6 to Feb. 8.

In addition, another suspect has been arrested by authorities in Germany, according to PET.

Speaking at the press conference, Lene Sorensen, acting director at the Central and West Zealand Police, said Islamic State flags were also discovered during the action which took place based on a suspicion that a group of people planned a terrorist attack in Denmark or Germany.

However, Drejer said that the authorities did not believe that an attack was imminent, since the materials uncovered had not yet been assembled into an actual bomb.

"We are doing our best and take this seriously. But we must not let ourselves be frightened by the terror threat to Denmark. We are doing our best to unravel this," said Drejer.
