Estonian Center Party Chairman Juri Ratas on Thursday was elected speaker of the 101-seat Riigikogu, the country's parliament, reported Xinhua.
Ratas, who resigned as Estonian prime minister in January, was supported by 63 parliament members in the election of the President of the Board of the Riigikogu, said a Riigikogu press release.
The mandate of the Board of the Riigikogu, consisting of a president and two vice-presidents, lasts for one year. The parliament members elect a new board from among themselves every spring.
