Sweden to open more clinics to cope with long-COVID patients

Sweden will open more clinics to cope with the increasing number of long-COVID patients, reported Xinhua, quoting Swedish Television (SVT) on Friday.

The Karolinska University Hospital will soon open a second clinic in Huddinge, south of Stockholm, which specializes in treating long-COVID patients and conducts research on the pandemic.

The first such clinic in central Stockholm has already run out of beds, SVT reported.

"We need to establish clinics as soon as possible," Heidi Stensmyren, the managing director of women's health at Karolinska University Hospital was quoted by the SVT as saying.

Specialists and doctors from several areas will also be picked to form teams at the new clinics.

More than 10,500 individuals in Sweden's capital Stockholm have been diagnosed with having symptoms of long COVID-19, including breathing difficulties, severe fatigue, headaches, nausea, difficulty concentrating, memory lapses, and recurrent infections, the report said.
