At least 10 workers were killed and eight others injured in an accident at a sewage treatment plant in south Russia's Rostov region on Friday, reported Xinhua.
The injured have been hospitalized, according to a statement by the Taganrog city administration in the Rostov region.
The accident happened due to a methane leakage, local media reported, citing Taganrog's water utilities director.
Two of the injured remain in serious condition and six are in intensive care, TASS news agency reported, quoting Rostov governor Vasily Golubev.
Measures are being taken to bring the bodies to the surface and the death toll is still being confirmed, said Russia's Investigative Committee, which has launched an investigation to determine whether industrial safety rules were violated.
