Russia logs daily highest COVID-19 deaths since start of epidemic

Russia in the past 24 hours recorded its highest daily COVID-19 death toll since the start of the epidemic as the number of fatalities grew by 652 to 134,545, the official monitoring and response center said Tuesday, reported Xinhua.
Meanwhile, the country logged 20,616 new infections, taking the national tally to 5,493,557, and the number of recoveries increased by 14,697 to 4,984,037.
Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 6,209 new cases, taking its total to 1,352,392.
Around 23 million Russian citizens have been vaccinated to date, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said Monday, adding that there have been no reports of fatalities linked to COVID-19 vaccines.
According to official data, 38,440,164 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Russia as of Sunday.
