German luxury sports car manufacturer Porsche said Friday it is recalling 43,000 units of its electric flagship Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo vehicles worldwide, reported Xinhua.

Of those recalled, about 3,400 are in Germany, said the company in a press release.

Affected vehicles are to receive a software update because of the "possibility that in certain instances a shutdown of the power train, resulting in loss of motive power, may be triggered incorrectly and sporadically," Porsche said.

The Taycan, Porsche's first all-electric sports car and second most popular model, was delivered over 9,000 units in the first quarter of the year, only behind the iconic 911 model, according to the latest company report.

Porsche expects to sell "significantly more" Taycan cars this year than in 2020, said Oliver Blume, chairman of the Executive Board. Deliveries of the all-electric model in May already accounted for nearly half of last year's total.
