Voter turnout at Russia's lower house polls reaches 40.49%

The turnout in the elections to Russia's State Duma, or the lower house of parliament, reached 40.49 percent, reported Xinhua, quoting the TASS news agency on Sunday.

"State Duma elections, the voting rate: 40.49%," it said, citing the Central Election Commission.

Elections to the 8th Russian State Duma held on Sept. 19, while the balloting process is from Sept. 17 to Sept. 19.
