200,000 VW buses have potentially dangerous door problem

More than 200,000 Volkswagen T6 buses worldwide have a potentially dangerous door locking mechanism, Germany's motor transport authority said on Thursday, reported dpa.
In frosty weather conditions there is a risk that "the doors may open unexpectedly while driving," the Flensburg-based Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) said.
The authority is now monitoring a Germany-wide recall, according to its own information, in which almost 67,400 vehicles are likely to be affected.
So far, there have been no reports of property damage or injured people.
"At temperatures below freezing, penetrating water can impair the door locking mechanism and, as a result, cause the door to appear to be locked," the KBA said.
The potential fault concerns T6 models constructed between 2019 and 2021. The recall will see the Bowden cables, which also control the door closing function, replaced.
