At least 57 people have died and 169 injured since Moscow launched the invasion, reported Cable News Network (CNN), quoting Ukraine’s Minister of Healthcare, Viktor Lyashko.
Meanwhile, Advisor to head of the President's Office of Ukraine Mykhailo Podoliak said Russian forces seized Chernobyl nuclear power plant (NPP), reported Xinhua, quoting Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
"After a fierce battle, our control over the Chernobyl site has been lost," Podoliak said.
The condition of the facilities of the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant, confinement and storage of nuclear waste is unknown, he added.
"This is one of the most serious threats to Europe today," Podoliak emphasized.
The Chernobyl nuclear plant, some 110 km north of Kiev, witnessed one of the worst nuclear accidents in human history on April 26, 1986.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he believes that Russian sabotage groups have entered the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, according to CNN's Tim Lister in Kyiv.
"According to our information, the enemy marked me as target No. 1, my family, as target No. 2. They want to destroy Ukraine politically by destroying the head of state. We have information that enemy sabotage groups have entered Kyiv," said the CNN report, quoting Zelensky as saying in a video statement late Thursday.
"I am staying in the government quarter together with others," he added.
