75-year-old man stabbed to death by wife in Germany

A 54-year-old German woman is suspected of having fatally stabbed her 75-year-old husband at their allotment in Hamburg following an alcohol-fuelled fight, police said on Monday, reported dpa.

According to the current state of police investigations, the couple had a dispute after drinking on Friday evening during which the woman stabbed her husband in the upper body.

She herself then called the emergency services but they were unable to revive her spouse, who died at the allotment site in the Wilhemsburg neighbourhood of the German port city.

The 54-year-old was detained and taken into pre-trial custody, police said in a press release. Several knives that are considered possible murder weapons were seized at the scene, according to the same statement.
