Opponents of the G7 meeting taking place in Bavaria's Schloss Elmau next week are to be brought to the venue in police buses, reported dpa.

They have been promised to be allowed to protest with a delegation of 50 demonstrators near the iconic hotel, a spokeswoman for the "Stop G7 Elmau" protest alliance said on Saturday.

"But everyone who wants to go to the security zone has to give their personal details, be searched and be taken there by police buses," she said, describing it as "an unbelievable curtailment of our freedom of assembly and thus of our fundamental rights."

Some demonstrators did not want to take part in the protest as a result. The district administration of Garmisch-Partenkirchen did not comment on the claim.

The G7 opponents will nonetheless accept the conditions because "it is especially the people from the countries most affected by the destructive G7 policies who are not heard at the G7," an organizer said.

"It is therefore all the more important that we use this opportunity to make their voices heard and their struggle visible," the organizer added, without specifying which countries were being referred to.
