3 gored in bull running at San Fermin festival

Three people were gored and taken to hospital on Monday during the fifth running of the bulls (encierro) at this year's San Fermin festival in the city of Pamplona in northern Spain, reported Xinhua.

Several other people also needed hospital treatment for cuts and bruises after the chaotic running of the bulls, which is the most famous event in a celebration that is known all over the world.

It is not the first run with gorings in this year's festival. Three people were taken to hospital after last Saturday's running.

Over a million people are expected to visit Pamplona -- a city with around 200,000 residents -- during the week of the San Fermin festival, which has returned this summer after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival started on July 6 and will last till July 14.
