5 held following clash in Belgium's Anderlecht

Five people were arrested after a violent fight in Anderlecht, a town near the Belgian capital Brussels, local media reported Saturday.

The clash, involving 60 and 100 people who were fighting with road signs, started at around 4:00 p.m. before the police came to the scene to calm the situation.

"By the time we arrived there, almost everyone was gone," said the police, adding that five people were arrested and brought for examination.

One woman was reportedly injured and brought to hospital.

According to the local media VRT, the violent disturbance involved local inhabitants and Roma who recently planted tents in a nearby public park.

The reasons of the clash are not yet known.
