A man suspected of carrying out a fatal attack on a 25-year-old during a gay pride march in the German city of Münster is being held in custody.
He is still refusing to provide any information about his motives.
The man has not spoken since he was arrested at the main railway station in Münster on Friday, senior public prosecutor Dirk Ollech told dpa on Saturday.
A magistrate ordered for the suspect, 20, to be remanded in custody on Saturday for bodily harm leading to death.
The attack was committed during a parade held in Münster last Saturday for Christopher Street Day, celebrating the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) community, in an event dating back to police storming a bar in New York that triggered a movement demanding gay rights.
The victim had intervened when the assailant began insulting a group of women, calling them "lesbian whores," telling them to "piss off" and making threatening gestures.
The suspect then hit the victim, who fell and hit his head on the road, according to the police and the public prosecutor's office. He was put into an induced coma in hospital and died early on Friday morning.
The suspect fled but was detained by police at the main railway station on Friday afternoon.
Police are also investigating a man who was with the suspect and is said to have fled with him following the attack.
