Germany is toughening its course against Tehran because of the Iranian authorities' crackdown on anti-government protests, reported dpa.

There can be "no 'business as usual' in bilateral relations," German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said.

Accordingly, additional national entry restrictions are to be imposed on top of the sanctions decided at the EU level. Existing business relations with Iranian banks are to be further restricted.

Thousands of people have been demonstrating across Iran since the death of a Kurdish woman in police custody. This has reignited tensions between Tehran and Western governments.
