Large amounts of data were stolen during an August cyberattack on German automotive supplier and tyre manufacturer Continental, the company said on Monday, reported dpa.
The DAX-listed corporation made the attack public in August, but said at the time that no data had been stolen.
An investigation with the help of external experts is still ongoing, the company said in a statement.
"This investigation has revealed that the attackers were also able to steal a subset of data from affected IT systems despite established security precautions," it said.
In August, the group had said no data had been encrypted on its own systems and no ransom demands had been received. According to German business daily Handelsblatt, the hackers stole 40 therabyte of data and demanded ransom.
