Flights from Germany airports cancelled due to strikes

Almost all flights were cancelled at Cologne-Bonn airport on Monday and many at Dusseldorf airport due to industrial action overpay, reported dpa.
With 136 departures and arrivals planned in Cologne-Bonn, only two took place - a flight to and from Vienna. The remaining travellers were forced to head to other airports for their flights.
The airport, Germany's second largest, would otherwise have expected around 15,000 passengers on Monday.
Few flights were departing from Dusseldorf airport, likewise due to the one-day strike called by the Verdi and Komba trade unions.
The strikes are part of larger industrial actions amid negotiations for public sector employees at the federal and local levels, as well as the nationwide negotiations for aviation security employees.
The strikes also affected local transport, daycare centres and public offices in the state of North Rhine Westphalia.
Unions are demanding 10.5% more income, or at least €500 more per month. The employers' side rejected that as "not affordable."
Just last Friday, warning strikes by Verdi at seven German airports caused thousands of flight cancellations. Several airports had to stop regular passenger operations.
