German police record 6,000 crimes related to Ukraine war

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine more than a year ago, German police have recorded some 6,000 criminal acts related to the war, according to a report, said dpa.
The offences committed during the first two weeks of the Russian invasion, which began on February 24 last year, mainly targeted Russia, Germany's Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspaper reported Friday, citing the German Criminal Police Office (BKA).
In recent months, however, crimes with an "anti-Ukrainian intention" have predominated, according to the report.
The offences recorded include property damage, insults, threats, but also physical assaults, data shows. More than a third of all offences were registered in the first 13 weeks of the war - between February 24, 2022 and the end of May 2022.
