1 killed, several injured, in Swedish roller coaster accident

One person was killed and several injured in a roller coaster accident in Stockholm on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the carts derailed and fell to the ground, Swedish Television (SVT) reported.

"Suddenly, I heard a metallic sound before the ride started to shake. My husband saw a cart with people in it derail and fall from a great height," SVT reporter Jenny Lagerstedt said.

It was initially unclear from what height the cart fell, but according to the Grona Lund website, it is 30 meters high.

The number of injured and the nature of their injuries were also unclear, but several rescue units, including an ambulance helicopter, were scrambled to the scene.
