A group of children near the German-French border had a lucky escape on Friday evening after finding an unexploded grenade and a bomb while playing in a river, reported dpa.
A police spokesman said on Saturday that emergency services evacuated an area within a radius of 100 metres around the site near the village of Rust in the south-western German state of Baden-Württemberg. Residential areas weren't affected.
The explosives were not defused where they were found but were taken away by a disposal service, police said.
The spokesman did not disclose where the missiles came from or whether they dated from one of the world wars.
