Twenty people were detained in operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Türkiye's northwestern provinces, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Monday, reported Xinhua.
Simultaneous operations have been launched at 26 addresses in Istanbul and Kirklareli, Yerlikaya said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Yerlikaya said they were cracking down on terrorists and those who were helping them, noting that 20 people had been detained in raids conducted by the Istanbul Anti-Terror Branch Directorate.
The minister said that the teams found that the suspects had been collecting aid for the organization's members and creating hiding places.
The operations came after two attackers attempted a bomb attack in front of the Turkish Interior Ministry's building in the capital, Ankara, on Sunday, injuring two police officers.
The ministry said one of the attackers had been identified as a member of the PKK, listed as a terror organization by Türkiye. The PKK has been rebelling against the Turkish government for over three decades.
