Man dies in mountaineering accident on Germany's Alpspitze

A 24-year-old mountain climber has died in an accident on Bavaria's Alpspitze mountain in southern Germany, the police said on Saturday, reported dpa.
Two hikers had found the lifeless man lying in a rocky field below one of the popular ascent paths on Friday afternoon.
According to the information, the accident happened on Thursday or Friday. The emergency services could only ascertain the man's death. The cause of the accident was initially unclear and police have started an investigation.
The Alpspitze is a popular mountaineering destination 100 kilometres south-west of Munich.
