Czech authorities said on Friday that all 14 victims in Thursday's university shooting in Prague have been identified. None of them were foreign citizens, reported Xinhua.
Interior Minister Vit Rakusan told journalists that three among the 25 people injured in the shooting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University are foreign citizens -- two from the United Arab Emirates and one from the Netherlands.
On Friday, police tightened nationwide preventive measures concerning schools and other so-called soft targets. Charles University said it has been actively cooperating in analyzing the situation with "soft target" protection experts since Thursday night.
The university also said in a statement on Friday that the Czech Police have already contacted the families of the deceased and the injured. "Most of the injured are in stable condition, with one person currently in serious condition."
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Prague police chief Petr Matejcek revealed that the shooter committed suicide, probably shot himself, when police got closer to him.
The Czech News Agency said the suspect was a 24-year-old student from the university's faculty, and most of the victims are also students.
Rakusan has called the shooting "a terrible act, unprecedented in the history of the Czech Republic," adding that there is no indication that the shooting was linked to "international terrorism."
The Czech government designated Dec. 23 as a national day of mourning in memory of the victims of the shooting.
Before this latest incident, the most devastating mass shooting in the country occurred in 2015, when a gunman unleashed gunfire in the southeastern town of Uhersky Brod, claiming eight lives before fatally shooting himself.
