Several right-wing extremists allegedly attacked and injured a 24-year-old man in the west German city of Dortmund, police said on Sunday, reported dpa.

A police spokesman said on Sunday evening that 13 people have been detained. Among them are right-wing extremists who are known to the state security services and have relevant criminal records.

The spokesman didn't initially say how many of the 13 suspects were connected to right-wing extremism.

Police received a report of an altercation in Dortmund's Dorstfeld district on Sunday afternoon. The 24-year-old, who is reportedly a blogger, was attacked by a group of masked men.

One of the perpetrators stole the man's camera, according to police. The blogger was slightly injured in the incident.

A short time later, the police encountered several suspects in a nearby residential building and arrested 13 people.

Police state security forces have taken over the investigation.

The incident occurred after several protests against the far-right across Germany over the weekend, including in Dortmund.
