An assailant stormed a factory in Türkiye's northwestern Kocaeli province on Thursday and took workers hostage, reported Xinhua, quoting local media.
The attacker raided the main building of the Procter and Gamble factory, a U.S. company located in the Gebze district, at around 3 p.m. local time (1200 GMT) with a gun, Demiroren news agency said.
The person allegedly committed the attack to protest Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip, according to the agency.
A special police unit was dispatched to the scene while police cordoned off the area and stopped traffic, Demiroren noted.
It is not clear how many workers were being held hostage.
