Turkish police have detained seven suspects over selling information to Israel's intelligence agency Mossad, reported Xinhua on Friday, quoting Türkiye's state-run TRT broadcaster.

Citing security sources, the TRT said police forces, in coordination with the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) units, carried out the arrest operation in Istanbul and the western province of Izmir.

MIT said Israeli intelligence had been conducting espionage activities such as collecting biographical information, photo and video documentation, and surveillance data, and planting tracking devices on targets through private detectives, according to the TRT.

In an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, nine suspects were found to have sold various information about targeted persons to the Mossad through these private detectives. Among them, two were previously put in jail, and seven were arrested in this operation.

Police also seized three licensed pistols, 50 cartridges, and many digital materials in the operation.
