2 dead, 3 missing after building collapse in Florence

At least two workers died and three others were injured after a building collapsed in Florence, Tuscany region, on Friday, reported Xinhua, quoting local authorities.

Rescuers believed at least three more workers were buried in the rubble, Tuscany regional governor Eugenio Giani told local media. He said rescue operations were going on.

Firefighters said they were called in at around 9 a.m. local time (0800 GMT). It was the slab of a prefabricated building in a mall complex under construction that collapsed in northwest Florence.

Eight people were reportedly working at the site when the incident occurred.
