Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) are collaborating on developing universal docking modules, local media reported Monday, citing Roscosmos head Yury Borisov, said Xinhua.
Borisov announced that Russia will remain part of the International Space Station until 2028, coordinating its exit with the development of its own space station.
"In the interests of safety, we are currently discussing the creation of universal docking modules," Borisov said.
The universal docking modules are expected to help Russian and American spaceships dock on newly built space stations in the event of an emergency, he explained.
