A court in Oslo has sentenced Zaniar Matapour to 30 years in prison for his role in a 2022 shooting. It is the longest sentence ever handed down in Norway, reported Xinhua.

Matapour was found guilty of aggravated terrorism for the attack in Oslo on June 25, 2022, according to the court's verdict delivered on Thursday. The attack left two people dead and 21 injured.

The court emphasized the great physical and psychological harm inflicted by Matapour, both directly on the victims, and outside the circle of those who were directly affected.

Therefore, the court said it was handing down the strictest punishment of the law.

Matapour's lawyer condemned the verdict as "unjust", and said he would advise his client to appeal.
