German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron on the European economy at a Franco-German business meeting in Evian in eastern France on Friday, the Élysée Palace said, reported dpa.
After a one-to-one meeting, the two leaders were to discuss the topic of European competitiveness with French and German business representatives, officials said.
Their talks are a follow-up to the Franco-German Council of Ministers held in Germany's Meseberg in May, which focussed on strengthening Europe and creating a more sovereign economy when dealing with China and the US.
Established in 1992, the annual Evian meetings bring together executives from German and French companies with the aim of strengthening economic relations between France and Germany. The traditional meeting is not open to the public.
