Norway has decided to lift the defense industry restrictions imposed against Türkiye in 2019, Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oncu Keceli said on Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

This came during a phone conversation between Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide on Wednesday, Keceli wrote on social media platform X.

Fidan said Ankara welcomes the decision as "such restrictions were not in line with the spirit of the alliance," according to Keceli.

Norway joined a group of countries in imposing defense industry restrictions on Türkiye in 2019 over Ankara's military operation against Kurdish militants in northern Syria.
