German airline Lufthansa said on Monday that it had extended a suspension of flights to Israel on account of continuing combat in the Middle East region, reported dpa.

Flights operated by core airline Lufthansa and by its subsidiaries Brussels, Swiss and Austrian to Tel Aviv would be cancelled up to and including November 10, the company said from its headquarters in Frankfurt.

Aircraft of its budget subsidiary Eurowings would not be flying to Tel Aviv up to November 30, it added.

Passengers hit by the cancellations will be able to book a later date free of charge or receive a refund.

No changes were announced regarding flights to Beirut, which have been suspended up to November 30, and to Tehran, suspended up to October 31.

Meanwhile, Flagship airline British Airways announced on Monday that it has extended the suspension of flights to Israel until the end of March 2025, reported Xinhua.

In late September, the British airline suspended flights between London's Heathrow Airport and Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv for three days due to the security escalation in the region, but it has not resumed operations in Israel since then.

The airline stated that the current flight suspension until the end of March "will give greater certainty to our customers, who we're contacting to advise them of their options, including a full refund."

Another British carrier, Virgin Atlantic, also announced earlier this month that its flight suspension to Israel will be extended until the end of March.
