Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said on Sunday, the 100th day in power by his Socialist Party (PSOE), that his aim was to "transform" Spain by the year 2030 despite his small number of deputies.

According to the local media, Sanchez said while speaking in the region of Asturias in the north of Spain that his government had prepared "the foundations for the great transformation that Spain requires.

He said that change would be based on five key areas: education, work, health, the environment and pensions.

The Spanish Prime Minister described Spain's public health service as "the jewel in the crown of our welfare stage", adding that his government would "guarantee a dignified and just health service, with sufficient resources," and promising to "undo the spending cuts of the previous (Rajoy) government."

Looking at the economy, Sanchez promised a plan to help deal with youth unemployment and to invest in training and "active employment policies."

The 46-year-old also promised efforts to promote "bilingual education", with a special emphasis on English.

He also said that his government "had a commitment to the environment" and would implement a "fair transition" to renewable energy sources.

Sanchez came to power after a motion of no-confidence proposed by his party led to Mariano Rajoy being ousted from office on June 1 with the PSOE replacing the Rajoy's PP, despite having just 85 deputies in the 350-seat Spanish Congress.
