The Czech Senate declared on Thursday that it is unacceptable that Prime Minister Andrej Babis would stay in the government till the Capi hnizdo case, in which he is prosecuted and fully investigated over new suspicions for EU subsidy fraud.
"The Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic considers the participation of Andrej Babis in the government until the end of the investigation into a suspicion of a subsidy fraud in the case of the Capi hnizdo company unacceptable," the Senate said in a resolution.
The senators also claimed that Babis, as the head of the National Security Council with a direct impact on the General Inspection of Security Corps (GIBS), may be influencing the investigation.
The Senate took this position after Babis did not attend its session to explain the information about the alleged kidnapping of his adult son to Crimea over the Capi hnizdo case. Babis' son, Andrej Babis Junior is also accused along with his father.
Babis excused himself from Thursday's Senate session and did not offer another date.
According to the report of Czech media Seznam Zpravy, Babis's son Andrej Babis Junior told reporters that he had been taken to Crimea against his will.
According to Babis Junior, his father wanted him to disappear from the Czech Republic because of the investigation into a suspected EU subsidy fraud in the Capi hnizdo farm case.
