Four people have been confirmed dead in an air accident involving a medical emergency helicopter in northern Portugal late Saturday, the Portuguese Lusa News Agency said on Sunday.
The National Institute of Medical Emergency said in a statement early Sunday that the helicopter went missing and was later found crashed in Valongo, near Porto, the second largest city in Portugal, killing all four on board.
The victims were two pilots, a doctor and a nurse.
The accident took place when the helicopter was on its way back to its base near Braganca after transporting a seriously ill patient to a hospital in Porto on Saturday in very bad weather conditions.
The cause of the accident has yet to be investigated.
