Snowstorm brings power cuts to 128 cities, villages in Ukraine

At least 128 cities and villages in Ukraine were cut off from power after a snowstorm hit the country, the State Service for Emergencies said in a statement on Tuesday.

Eight regions across Ukraine were affected by the blizzard. Some 1,600 units of equipment and more than 2,100 emergency response personnel have been deployed to clear the snow on the country's roads, the statement said.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued an alert for avalanches in the Carpathian Mountains, where several ski resorts are located.
