Six people were killed in a fire in Warsaw, said a spokesman of Poland's State Fire Service (PSP) on Wednesday.

A small wooden building caught fire on Tuesday night in Warsaw's Zeran district, with the whole building was covered by fire when the first units of the fire department arrived, PSP spokesman Pawel Fratczak told local media.

The cause of the fire, which was put off early in the morning, as well as the identities of the six victims were still unclear, as the police had launched investigation into this tragedy, said Fratczak.

He also said that the fire department since Saturday carried out 3,860 interventions, and a total of 18 people were killed and 54 others were injured.

The most tragic day was Tuesday, when eight people died, including six in the fire of Zeran.
