Seven people were killed and another one seriously injured on Monday in a building fire in a Paris neighborhood, according to local fire service.
The fire service warned the death toll could still grow as the fire is still in progress, adding that 27 people, including 3 firefighters, are with minor injuries.
The blazing eight-story building sits in Paris's swanky 16th arrondissement, which is home to foreign embassies and renowned museums.
In another incident, four children have died in a house fire in Stafford, which also left two adults and a fifth child in hospital, in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.
Four children, aged between three and eight, were discovered dead at the property after firefighters and police officers were called to the blaze area at 0240 GMT on Tuesday.
The injuries to the survivors are not believed to be life-threatening, Staffordshire Police said.
Stafford is the county town of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands of England.
Fire crews remain at the scene combing for clues as to what triggered the blaze.
Part of the roof has collapsed, with the windows smashed and the inside appearing to have been blackened by smoke.
