German elite soldier suspended for right-wing extremism: report

The German army has suspended a soldier of the special unit (KSK) for right-wing extremism and being part of the unconstitutional "Reichsbuerger" movement, several German media reported on Friday.

The German army confirmed a report by Bild that the KSK elite soldier is being investigated for the spread of "right-wing extremism in social media".

According to Germany's Military Counter-Intelligence Service (MAD), seven extremists in the armed forces had already been exposed last year. A spokesperson of MAD confirmed to Sueddeutsche Zeitung that the soldier who was now suspended had also been known to them.

The soldier posted his opinions in a closed group on Facebook that closely reflected the ideas of the so-called "Reichsbuerger" that does not recognize the legitimacy of the Federal Republic of Germany and does not recognize German government.

Last year's investigation by the MAD uncovered seven extremists, the Funke Media Group reported. According to MAD statistics, the seven man have been subject to disciplinary or personnel proceedings and most of them had left German army by now.
