Coronavirus death toll raises to 48 in Finland

The coronavirus death toll in Finland has increased to 48 as six more patients died in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) said on Friday.
Out of the six new deaths, four were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa hospital district (HUS), one in Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS) and one in Turku Hospital District (TYKS).
So far 29 people died in Helsinki-Uusimaa hospital district (HUS), 14 in Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), three in Turku Hospital District (TYKS), one in Tampere- Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and one in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (OYS) Hospital District, said THL.
The THL, however, did not divulge any details about the deceased considering their confidentiality.
Meanwhile, the number of total coronavirus infection cases in the country has increased to 2769, as 164 more cases were diagnosed on Friday.
Presently a total of 236 patients remain admitted to different hospitals, including 81 in the intensive care units.
Meanwhile, the authority is planning to increase coronavirus testing, according to Minister for Basic Services and Health Krista Kiuru.
The minister in a column published on the website of ministry said that the government healthcare authorities could increase the number to 7,000 daily while the private hospitals could increase the testing number up to 3,000 per day.
THL said that the country had carried out a total of about 39,000 tests till April 9 with about 2,500 tests daily.
