The coronavirus death toll in Finland has increased to 49 as two more patients died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa hospital district (HUS) in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) said on Saturday.

The THL, however, made a correction to the total death number in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) to two people. Earlier on Friday the THL said the number of deaths in Turku was three.

So far 31 people died in Helsinki-Uusimaa hospital district (HUS), 14 in Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), two in Turku Hospital District (TYKS), one in Tampere- Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and one in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (OYS) Hospital District, said THL.

The THL, however, did not divulge any details about the deceased considering their confidentiality.

Meanwhile, the number of total coronavirus infection cases in the country has increased to 2905, as 136 more cases were diagnosed on Saturday.

Presently a total of 235 patients remain admitted to different hospitals, including 80 in the intensive care units.

Meanwhile, the government is not likely to extend the restriction on movement to and from Uusimaa, which is scheduled to end on April 19.

In an interview to a Finnish language tabloid Ilta-Sanomat, Prime Minister Sanna Marin said that the government may seek Parliament's approval for the measure.

The Prime Minister, however, said that the compulsory restriction also could be lengthy, if necessary.
