23 new deaths up coronavirus death toll to 172 in Finland

The coronavirus death toll in Finland has increased to 172 as 23 more people died in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.
The total number has risen significantly since Wednesday as the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) has reported deaths related to coronavirus took place in the nursing home units in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
Out of the 23 new deaths, 21 patients died in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District and one patient died in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (OYS) Hospital District each.
Till Thursday, a total of 139 people had died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 21 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), six in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, and three in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (OYS) Hospital District, said the THL.
The identities of the deceased, however, could not be known as the THL did not divulge any details in this regard.
Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has increased to 4284 as 155 more cases had been diagnosed in the last 24 hours till Thursday afternoon.
Presently, 206 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, including 60 in intensive care units.
Currently, laboratories are testing about 5,000 samples a day and their testing capacity is being increased gradually.
