Coronavirus death toll in Finland hits 177

The coronavirus death toll in Finland has increased to 177 as five more people died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Till Friday, a total of 144 people had died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 21 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), six in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, and three in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa (OYS) Hospital District, said the THL.

The identities of the deceased, however, could not be known as the THL did not divulge any details in this regard.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has increased to 4395 as 111 more cases had been diagnosed in the last 24 hours till Friday afternoon.

Presently, 199 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, including 61 in intensive care units.

Currently, laboratories are testing about 5,000 samples a day and their testing capacity is being increased gradually.
