1 more death, 496 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The number of coronavirus deaths in Finland has increased to 354 as one more patient died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the three days since Friday, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 14,970 as 496 more cases were diagnosed in the three days.

Out of the 496 cases, 178 were diagnosed on Saturday, 196 on Sunday, and 122 on Monday, said the THL.

So far a total of 285 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 21 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 14 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and nine in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Monday, 9,800 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 74 coronavirus patients, including 10 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 270 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 20,000 samples a day.
